Job Description
- Assist the Chief Accountant on monthly payroll computation and processing for the entity
- Close cooperation with Operations and HR departments to ensure accurate reporting of payroll for
Colombia and Argentina - Ensure payroll journal entries and accruals are recorded in the general ledger in a timely manner and are accurate.
- Assist performing monthly payroll and tip reconciliations as part of the month-end close procedures.
- To perform all additional work designated by the Chief Accountant as needed.
Qualifications
Experience & Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in finance and/or accounting.
- 3- 5 years of proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience in all areas of payroll and payroll processing inclusive of payroll tax.
- Experience in payroll processing for more than 500 employees.
- Initiative and self-driven desire for excellence.
- Good understanding of the common fiscal procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications—especially Excel.
- Proficiency in English (B2-C1)

The Position
FullStack is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team in Colombia. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant execution of payroll and social security processes for our workforce. This role demands a detail-oriented professional who can navigate complex payroll operations, uphold Colombian labor and tax regulations, and deliver exceptional support to both employees and leadership. You will act as a trusted partner in safeguarding compliance while enabling efficiency, transparency, and employee satisfaction, maintaining strict compliance with Colombian labor laws and regulations. You will collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and external advisors to deliver seamless payroll operations that support our company's growth.
What You Will Do
- Payroll Processing
Manage the end-to-end payroll cycle for all Colombian employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Administer monthly payroll cycles, including prenómina validation, approval workflows, and definitive payroll closure.
Calculate and reconcile salaries, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and benefits according to Colombian legislation.
Ensure accurate withholding tax (retención en la fuente) and compliance with DIAN requirements, including electronic payroll transmission.
- Social Security & Benefits Administration
Manage employee enrollment and updates with EPS, ARL, AFP, and Cajas de Compensación.
Process PILA contributions and parafiscal payments, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
Coordinate recoupment of sick leave, maternity/paternity leaves, and other social security reimbursements.
- Compliance & Regulations
Ensure compliance with Colombian labor law, tax regulations, and social security requirements.
File and manage payroll-related tax and benefits contributions (e.g., health, pension, severance funds).
Stay up to date with regulatory changes and assess their impact on payroll processes.
- Employee Support
Serve as the primary point of contact for queries related to payroll, benefits, and compliance matters.
Provide clear communication to employees regarding salary, deductions, and benefits.
Maintain and update vacation, leave, and seniority records.
Process terminations, calculate and validate liquidations, and manage offboarding compliance.
- Reporting & Reconciliation
Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
Prepare and distribute payroll reports to Finance and HR for analysis.
Reconcile payroll data with accounting and banking transactions.
Prepare monthly reports on payroll provisions, benefits, and accounting interfaces.
Support audits, fiscal reviews, and compliance inspections with complete and accurate records.
Generate annual certificates (certificados de ingresos y retenciones, cesantías, etc.).
- Continuous Improvement & Advisory
Stay updated on Colombian labor laws, tax updates, and UGPP requirements.
Recommend process improvements and ensure best practices in payroll efficiency and compliance.
Support digitalization and self-service tools to enhance employee experience.
Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve accuracy.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in payroll processing in Colombia, preferably in a multinational or IT/consulting environment.
- Advanced English is required.
- Successful completion of a four-year college degree is required in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of Colombian labor legislation, Social Security, parafiscal charges, DIAN requirements, and electronic payroll.
- Proficiency in payroll systems and financial tools (e.g., Siigo, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP/accounting interfaces.
- A positive mindset and a can-do attitude.
- Experience working on Agile / Scrum teams.
- Meaningful experience working on large, complex systems.

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing nationwide payroll processing for T-ROC and all affiliate companies. The position requires a solid understanding of payroll principles, practices, laws, and standards. Serving as the subject matter expert, the position will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all payrolls, tax management and researching issues, maintaining appropriate state specific wage and hour compliance and servicing employee inquiries and needs with world class service.
Key Responsibilities- Maintains payroll information, directing the collection, calculation and entering of data.
- Full Ownership of assigned company code(s) and able to process payroll from start to finish. (Will partner with Manager of Dept. for review / final release)
- Maintains all methods of communication systems in place for employees to reach Payroll.
- Liaison between Payroll vendor and Employees. Depending on scenario, will act as liaison between DailyPay and employee(s) to assist in resolution of escalations.
- Monitors and processes time and attendance records to ensure accurate and timely submission of time worked for all entities on a Bi-Weekly and Weekly payroll frequency.
- Identifies problem areas, reports to manager, and works with Sr. Management team to make the necessary adjustments or corrections
- Pays employees and compiles payroll information by managing payroll preparation; completing reports; and maintaining records.
- Creates off-cycle payrolls, processes manual checks and ACH/WIRE requests as needed.
- Updates and/or audits payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles, and department/division transfers. Audits Incentive Uploads on Incentive/ Commission Payroll Runs.
- Conducts Audit and Processes all child support and court mandated wage garnishments.
- Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes deductions, leave disability and nontaxable wages.
- Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, employer's social security, unemployment, and workers.
- Processes 401K contribution payments each pay period.
- Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Actively participates in internal and external payroll and tax related audits.
- Works closely and collaboratively on requests by Finance.
- Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements; advising management on needed actions. (Partners with Manager of Dept.)
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
- Supports department and business with other work-related matters as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelors or Associates degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in payroll processing or related roles.
- Familiarity with timekeeping systems.
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, including federal and state tax laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of garnishments, benefits deductions, and retirement contributions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
