The role of the Database Administrator is critical in managing, maintaining, and optimizing the data infrastructure that supports our applications and business intelligence needs. This position requires a deep understanding of database technologies, security protocols, and performance tuning to ensure the reliability and integrity of our healthcare data. Going beyond standard administration, this role is key to empowering our development and analytics teams to deliver solutions with real-world impact.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

- Database Management: Administer and maintain our databases across different environments (Production, QA, and Development) on Azure SQL and Snowflake.
- ETL & Stored Procedures: Manage and optimize ETL processes using Azure Data Factory and oversee the maintenance of numerous stored procedures used for local data processing.
- Data Security: Implement and manage robust security protocols, including user access control and data encryption, to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Backup and Recovery: Develop, maintain, and regularly test comprehensive backup and recovery strategies to protect against data loss.
- Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize database queries, schemas, indexing to improve application performance for our MAUI, Blazor, and Web API applications.
Data Services
- Fulfill ad-hoc data requests, such as data refreshes and database copies between environments, and provide support to cross-functional teams.
Collaboration
- Work closely with dotnet developers, Power BI analysts, and other IT professionals to support data needs, deployments, and new projects.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Proactively monitor database health, performance metrics, and resource utilization, and generate status reports.
Administrative Functions:
- Perform general administrative tasks and support other staff as needed.
- Utilize the company's software systems to enhance patient care and staff efficiency.
- Be available during normal work hours (unless previously approved by direct supervisor). Additional hours may be required to complete normal business functions and/or projects.
- Participate in coaching calls.
- Perform other duties as requested or required, in the sole discretion of the Company.

Manage a global environment of SQL Server, Azure SQL DB, Oracle and other databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security;
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes, manage and ensure compliance with database backup strategies
Troubleshoot problems as they occur, including weekends, on-call rotation as required
Complete administration of SQL Server Replication (transactional, peer-to-peer)
Complete administration of SQL Server Clustering, including Always On; additional knowledge of other HA/DR options as asset
Manage and maintain service pack updates, cumulative updates and security patches
Complete general database administration of Oracle 12c/21c Database, including datapump, RMAN backup and recovery
You bring to the role:
Bachelor's degree
8-10+ years of experience of MS SQL Server 2008-2019 production support in a mission critical environment,Microsoft Azure SQL DBs and Oracle OCI environment
Experience in analysis and tuning of T-SQL queries to improve performance, providing baselines and reporting to higher teams on results
Experience with backup, restore and recovery models
Familiarity with server troubleshooting in a Microsoft Windows environment
Experience in Oracle 12c/21c, including RMAN backup and restore and oracle datapump
The ability to plan, organize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
MySQL, MongoDB and PostgreSQL knowledge is a plus
Advanced English proficiency (spoken and written)
Working knowledge in the following areas is considered an asset:
PowerShell Automation
Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Data factory, System Center Operations Manager, Azure Synapse

The project and your role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive technical professional with strong expertise in SQL database administration and IIS web server management. You will maintain and optimize our database and web application systems, playing a critical role in ensuring the performance, security, and availability of our client's IT infrastructure within the IT Services and IT Consulting sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL).
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IIS web servers and web applications.
- Design and implement database schemas, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
- Diagnose and resolve web application performance issues and errors.
- Perform regular database tuning, optimization, and performance monitoring.
- Implement and maintain backup and recovery plans; ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Plan and execute database conversions and migrations.
- Apply go-live updates and changes to production databases and web applications.
- Implement and maintain web server security best practices.
- Collaborate with development, product, and infrastructure teams to support application data needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database and web application-related issues.
- Proven experience as a DBA with a strong emphasis on SQL.
- Must-have expertise in MS SQL Server, MySQL, and AWS RDS.
- Experience with IIS web server configuration and management.
- Expertise in writing complex SQL queries and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of web application troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience with database conversion projects and production go-live support.
- Familiarity with backup strategies, replication, and disaster recovery planning.
- Understanding indexing, partitioning, and query optimization.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Senior Database Administrator - LATAM

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities
Job Purpose: The Database Administrator is responsible for implementing enhancements to all aspects of the current & future NoSQL/OpenSource DB architecture, ensuring high performance and availability.
Primary Duties include:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for NoSQL/OpenSource databases (primarily Mongo Atlas, PostgreSQL, CosmosDB, and others), sharing knowledge and training team members.
- Collaborate with development teams to identify and migrate NoSQL/OpenSource databases not managed by the DB team.
- Participate in on-call rotations for support.
- Monitor, trend, and tune NoSQL/OpenSource databases to meet SLAs.
- Create and automate health checks, monitoring, and reporting for NoSQL/OpenSource databases.
- Develop and enforce best practices within the DBA team and collaborate with development teams.
- Assist in designing and implementing high-performance databases.
- Address performance issues through scaling, configuration, or query optimization.
- Identify code defects, analyze root causes, and recommend improvements.
- Manage NoSQL/OpenSource DBs for production and non-production workloads, on-premise and in the cloud.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and identify risks.
- Report control weaknesses and unusual activities.
- Maintain ongoing training and development.
- Provide fair and clear communication to clients, ensuring high service quality and reporting complaints.
Qualifications
- Experience managing Open Source/NoSQL databases such as CosmosDB and MariaDB.
- Experience with MSSQL/Oracle or willingness to learn.
- Experience working in Agile/SCRUM environments.
- NoSQL/OpenSource DB Certification.
- Coding skills (PowerShell, C#, Python) for automation and API interaction.
- Experience with automation/orchestration tools like Jenkins, Ansible, GIT, TeamCity, Azure DevOps, Terraform.

- Should be able to analyze blocking queries and provide detailed recommendations on remediation
- Expertise with SolarWinds DPA and other monitoring tools, to help with analysis of queries

- Successful migration of code through the SDLC
- SQL DBA
- SQL Server (MSSQL Server 2016, 2022): Installation, configuration, and management
- T-SQL: Writing and optimizing queries, stored procedures, triggers
- Backup & Recovery: Full, differential, transaction log backups
- Performance Tuning: Query optimization, indexing, execution plans
- High Availability: Clustering, Always On, replication
- Security: Role-based access control, auditing, encryption
- ETL Tools: SSIS, Azure Data Factory (optional)
- Monitoring Tools: SQL Server Profiler, Redgate, SolarWinds, etc.
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
